Mission, Vision and Values

Our History
Sullivan, Cotter and Associates, Inc. opened its doors over thirty years ago on March 16, 1992, when co-founders and initial shareholders John Sullivan, Tim Cotter, Jim Rohan, and Mark Pittel embarked on a journey to deliver best-in-class compensation advisory services. In those early days, they consulted to a multitude of organizations before the firm’s focus shifted to not-for-profit health care and, in particular, executive and physician compensation.
Among the firm’s first employees who joined these initial shareholders were Tom Pavlik and Kim Mobley. Both would become shareholders later in their careers – each making significant contributions. This included the stewardship of two of our flagship surveys: Health Care Management and Executive Compensation and Physician Compensation and Productivity.
In those early days, Sullivan, Cotter and Associates, Inc. embraced new challenges, new learnings and a new way of doing business. The firm is highly focused on fact-based consulting and utilizing data-driven intelligence and market data. Today, these surveys are industry-leading. Whether measured by the number of incumbents, participating organizations, or the size of our datasets – our surveys stand out amongst the others.
We look upon our early days with pride, and credit the incredible efforts and contributions of our founders and first associates with establishing the foundation of what is now SullivanCotter. That foundation is everlasting and continues to inform who we are today. With nearly 300 engaged associates, we are proud of what we have built and will continue to build into the future.
