Executive Workforce Principal

Shannon Ferrari is a Principal in the Executive Workforce Practice at SullivanCotter with expertise in designing executive total rewards. She advises a broad spectrum of organizations in the health care arena, including long-term care facilities, large integrated delivery systems, community hospitals and other not-for-profit organizations.

Throughout her 20-year career, Shannon has worked with organizations in rural areas across the country, developing a unique understanding of how to attract and retain top talent in smaller communities.

Her experience includes:

  • Conducting total compensation benchmark analyses for the entire workforce to inform the development of philosophies and programs that drive success in organizations, regardless of their size and scope.
  • Developing short- and long-term incentive plans that align with organizational goals, provide appropriate rewards across all levels, give individuals line of sight to metrics and motivate desired performance.
  • Designing base salary structures for executives and nonexecutives to ensure compensation programs are paying meaningful dollars to the workforce segments in their respective markets.
  • Creating retention and severance programs that facilitate a transition of leadership and the transformation of business strategies.
  • Working with boards and senior leaders on creating governance procedures that help organizations manage their fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Preparing formal opinion letters regarding the reasonableness of compensation provided to disqualified persons of not-for-profit 501(c)(3) and (c)(4) organizations.

Before joining SullivanCotter, Shannon was an associate with a global human resources consulting firm, where she specialized in executive rewards, including nonqualified deferred compensation and supplemental retirement programs in not-for-profit health care organizations.

A Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Shannon is a member of WorldatWork. She also is a frequent speaker to industry and HR audiences on hot topics and compensation practices in health care.

Shannon received her Bachelor of Arts in economics from Bethany College in West Virginia and her Master of Business Administration from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.
