Tom Trachtman

Principal

Tom Trachtman is a Principal at SullivanCotter in the Physician Workforce Practice. With over 15 years of experience in consulting and corporate finance, Tom leverages his analytical point of view to help translate complex data and build connections between business economics, operational performance and clinical outcomes. He uses this understanding to help organizations address their most strategic initiatives.

Tom’s experience includes:

  • Performing business valuations, business case development, due diligence analysis and integration planning to enable mergers and acquisitions.
  • Designing physician compensation programs that align with an organization’s strategic objectives and drive performance related to population health initiatives, such as panel management, clinical outcomes, community access, team-based care and cost management.
  • Supporting a health systems’ affiliation planning processing, including the development of provider agreements and employment contracts that improve outcomes, manage risk, reduce costs and create accountability.
  • Developing service line assessments, long-term capital plans and strategies to position health care systems for future and long-term success.  
  • Providing fair market value and commercial reasonableness assessments in a variety of settings to ensure regulatory compliance.

Previously, Tom was a senior consultant working across North America for two other strategy and management consulting firms, providing advice to health care organizations as well as Fortune 500 employers.

Tom is a frequent speaker and writer centered on how affiliation agreements, population health initiatives and compensation design support high-performing medical groups.

Tom has earned a Bachelor of Science in management and a Master of Business Administration, concentrating on strategy and finance, both from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management in West Lafayette, Indiana.
