Managing Principal

Stuart Harvey is a Managing Principal at SullivanCotter. As an actuary with over 20 years of experience, he leads the firm’s Benefits Practice.

Stuart is a nationally recognized expert on the strategic alignment of benefits programs with organizational priorities within the health care industry. Stuart specializes in advising not-for-profit health care organizations on all manner of benefits issues and employment agreement provisions.

His experience includes:

  • Advising boards and compensation committees on designing executive compensation and benefits programs that are effective in attracting and retaining top leaders, while considering cost, tax efficiency, risks, optics and administrative needs.
  • Developing strategies to facilitate leadership transitions and changes in organizational structures with minimal disruption.
  • Creating structures that align employee benefits programs with total rewards strategies and support retention objectives.
  • Assessing and restructuring benefits programs that address the unique needs of physicians.
  • Providing end-to-end implementation advice and overseeing program changes.

Stuart grew up in England and started his career in London before moving to Atlanta in 2004. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He is also certified to perform actuarial services by the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries.

Stuart is an author of SullivanCotter’s CompPlus360 methodology for total compensation valuation. Additionally, he has contributed to the American Health Lawyers Association’s report: Corporate Governance Implications of Nonprofit Executive Compensation.

Stuart holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
