Lee Bosma is a Principal in the Physician Workforce practice at SullivanCotter. He brings extensive experience in valuation and financial advisory services for health care and life sciences organizations, primarily supporting transaction planning and regulatory compliance services, including compliance with Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse laws (Anti-Kickback Statute), the Physician Self-Referral Law (Stark Law), and IRS 501(c)(3) status (private inurement/private benefit).
Lee works closely with clients on business valuation assessments, physician compensation assessments, the evaluation and redesign of physician compensation programs, commercial reasonableness assessments, and compensation risk analyses.
Drawing upon his extensive experience, Lee primarily assists organizations with:
- Transaction advisory services, including proforma development and fair market value assessments related to business enterprises, joint ventures, intangible assets, and ancillary services.
- Assessing fair market value and reasonableness of physician compensation arrangements to help organizations manage regulatory risk and financial sustainability.
- Designing and implementing physician and APP compensation and benefits plans that align rewards with productivity and quality benchmarks and increase provider satisfaction.
- Supporting professional service agreement negotiations between health systems and large physician groups to better align interests and improve accountability.
- Administering physician compensation plans, including payroll and benefits plan administration, creating policy and procedure support, physician reporting, fair market value compliance and measurement of clinical quality performance.
- Reorganizing health system board and committee structures to provide effective physician compensation governance.
Lee holds a BS in Psychology and an MBA from The University of Georgia. He is a Certified Valuation Analyst of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts and is a member of the American Society of Appraisers, American Health Law Association, and Healthcare Financial Management Association.
