SullivanCotter is seeking an intellectually curious, adaptable, resourceful and collaborative Product Manager to manage technology driven data products as part of a high-performing technology business unit in a start-up type of environment. The effectiveness in delivering valuable products will directly impact the day-to-day work activities of the firm’s clients and business users, so a focus on assisting health care organizations as they navigate the complexities of health care reform, is important.

The Product Manager will be responsible to drive profitability growth through development and execution of market driven product strategies and roadmaps, which include lifecycle management of product lines. They will need to leverage the knowledge of their products, as well as customer feedback, and establish other relevant data points to assess value, develop business cases, and prioritize the direction and desired outcomes for their products. The Product Manager will develop a deep understanding of the market including trends, applications, competitors, and client needs. This individual will be required to utilize that market knowledge to identify growth opportunities and develop short- and long-term strategies for product lines. The Product Manager will need to effectively communicate with key internal stakeholders, influence other internal functional teams and partner closely within technology for delivery. The Product Manager will be accountable for achieving annual revenue, growth, and profit targets. The right candidate will be technically minded with a strong foundation in leveraging data to make decisions.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities of this role lie in three broad areas: (1) strategy and research, (2) product data management, monitoring and reporting, and (3) marketing and operational support.

  • Research and develop deep understanding of market and industry trends with a focus on client needs, competitor offerings, market dynamics and new technologies.
  • Define a product strategy informed by client and market insights, competitive landscape, internal competences and assets, and firm direction.
  • End to end ownership of roadmap for product lines that align with enterprise strategies.
  • Key decision maker for a product, with decisions based on cultivation of data from a variety of sources, both internal and external.
  • Conducts regular voice of customer sessions to generate new product ideas and detailed product requirements for new product line offerings.
  • Provides input into product positioning and value proposition for product lines and supports gaining alignment across the firm.
  • Responsible for program scope and trade-off decisions and managing through conflict resolution.
  • Recommends and executes improvements to new product launch process, driving continuous improvement measured by new product development KPIs.
  • Collaborates with Business Development, Marketing, Finance, Technology and other relevant teams to piece together the market context and key drivers that feed the revenue forecast, longer-term outlook, and total addressable market.
  • Orchestrates product launch activity, coordinating product messaging, supporting sales training and marketing material creation.
  • Provides input into the development, management and governance of product lifecycle management processes.
  • Leads and coaches cross-functional teams through the execution of life-cycle management processes.
  • Develops lifecycle pricing strategies, leading product line pricing recommendations to drive profitable growth.
  • Drives improvement of key product or product line performance metrics.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, product management, and/or business development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related field, MBA preferred.
  • Cross-functional leadership – ability to lead complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and functions.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on execution.
  • Data analysis – ability to analyze data and recommend action based on the information.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use multiple IT resources (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS SharePoint) at an advanced level.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry or consulting background would be a benefit.
  • Experience working in an agile environment (e.g. user stories, scrum teams, sprints).
