Design, develop, document, test, and debug new and existing software systems and/or applications (cloud and/or in-house). Serve as technical expert on development projects. Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand needs and translate into technical requirements. Possess functional knowledge of all layers of computer software development.

Specific responsibilities under the direction and supervision of the Sr Manager, Development include:

  • Being part of the development team who analyze, design, code and use Test Driven Development(TDD) for the SullivanCotter suite of applications using Ruby and Ruby on Rails(RoR & PostgreSQL, CSS, HTML, JQuery & JavaScript).
  • Providing expertise in web development and SQL development which include, but not limited to, writing SQL, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  • Well versed with version control(Git/GitHub) and automated testing(Travis).
  • Support & maintain existing applications.
  • Analyze technical challenges and provide solutions.
  • Review solution with other vendor applications and integrate with them.
  • Help client organization in running the system and user testing.
  • Providing guidance, mentorship, and subject matter expertise for development teams.
  • Creating technical documentation if needed as a result of team discussion in order to complete a user story.
  • Be able to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Following agile framework and/or methodologies.
  • Participation in daily standups and meetings.
  • Completing assigned user stories for every sprint and release schedule.
  • Performing peer/code reviews as needed.
  • Brainstorming with development team and come up with best possible design and implement them.
  • Collaboration in promoting quality standards in the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Adhering to SullivanCotter general policies and procedures.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.


  • BA or BS, in Information Systems, Information Technology or related computer degree. Masters is a plus.
  • Requires 4+ years of software development related experience in an Agile development environment.
  • Solid technical knowledge and experience working with RoR.
  • Knowledge of the health care industry is helpful, but not required.
