As a Consultant in the Not-for-Profit Practice at SullivanCotter, you will enthusiastically:

  • Conduct market pricing, peer group and survey analyses, interpret salary data, financial modeling and support special research projects.
  • Analyze data to yield the appropriate salary level and job title for existing and proposed positions.
  • Conduct job evaluations; understand job responsibilities, activities, duties, requirements and organizational structure and assess internal job placement in the appropriate level.
  • Identify complex job matching and data issues and proactively consults with key team members to determine appropriate course of action.
  • Effectively keep the Project Manager apprised of project status, including delays or potential problems; holding self and team members accountable for client deadlines and deliverables.
  • Assist with report and proposal writing to describe and summarize project objectives, methodologies, analysis and results as well as proofing for accuracy.
  • Serve as a peer reviewer and mentor of technical knowledge to effectively guide more junior associates in complex research, data collection and analytics.
  • Participate in Client Delivery Team meetings to understand team and client initiatives.
  • Shadow Project and Client Relationship Managers at client meetings or teleconferences, as requested.
  • Contribute to nonbillable practice-building activities and special projects, as requested.

We find people who generally fit this profile have a high degree of success in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three or more years of either executive and/or staff compensation consulting experience or three years or more of related compensation analytical experience, involving data evaluation, financial modeling and presentation design.
  • Solid technical knowledge and experience working with Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to:
    • Determine appropriate data approaches and tools based on project tasks and client requirements.
    • Evaluate, organize and interpret data using a logical and systematic process.
    • Remove irrelevant data when conducting analytical work and developing creative solutions.
    • Visualize and articulate problems and concepts.
    • Recognize patterns in complex sets of data and recommend practical models.
    • Identify and recommend solutions to remove obstacles impeding project steps or task achievement.
  • Ability to develop relevant knowledge of the not-for-profit sector and draft well-organized client deliverables that demonstrate understanding.
  • Ability to present ideas in a business-friendly language and accurately respond to client or team member inquiries.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, verbal and presentation skills are required, including the ability to:
    • Successfully tailor communications to the audience, as appropriate.
    • Effectively present facts, analysis and conclusions or solutions in a way that demonstrates knowledge of content; includes perspectives and interests of the audience.
    • Write concise project communications, documents and presentations with appropriate level of technical detail and complexity.
    • Use appropriate writing style consistent with organizational guidelines, templates and brand standards.
  • Dependable project management and organizational skills, and ability to manage and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
